| If I come to Wawa........ What Can I do?? You will certainly enjoy the Great Outdoors!! Fabulous Waterfalls, amazing Beaches, and endless Hiking trails! We don't have a Mall or a Movie Theater....... But who needs that?? Here's Wawa, located on Spring Fed Wawa Lake.
The Drive from Sault Ste Marie to Wawa, goes along Lake Superior, & through Lake Superior Provincial Park and is rated as one of the "Top 10 Drives in Canada!" Check out the EDC Drive Wawa Website for tons of photos and information.
As you drive the highway in Northern Ontario, you'll see Inukshuks - (Inuit for meaning "Likeness of Person") Build your own! These have also become a symbol meaning "Happy Travels" or "Safe Journey". Early explorers would build these to indicate Man had been there.
Our Northern Lights Falls. Only a 5 - 10 minute hike from the Motel. It's an easy hike to the top of the falls, but rugged, down a steep embankment to the bottom. (Many photos throughout my website are still in Thumbnail versions - click on them for larger pics)
2003 - this summer was really dry and the falls were just a trickle.
Take a walk out back by the barn
The trail meets up with Henson Road. In 5 minutes you'll walk by Rick Dickson's Bear Hunt Property. The road goes on for miles.... taking you to numerous lakes, beaver dams, etc.
Here's Little Barkley July 07 - He wanted to move inside and we were trying to keep him outside!!
We finally got him out of the back room - look at the sad little face as he knew he had to leave...

A Cute little
Marten 07 -
I Love this picture that Ken Reece took of a Moose in White River
And this gorgeous Black Moose - photographed by Shirley Bumgardner July 07
Eric found a Moose Shed and photographed Eagles
Look at this FABULOUS Lynx Jan Gagnon photographed July 2007. What a beaut!
We have a lot of cats on the property....... Here's Snowball on her perch.
When you head out for dinner, take in the sites! Beaches, Waterfalls, The Goose, or the Drill Rig located on Wawa Lake's Waterfront. Lake Superior and Wawa Lake, Silver Falls and High Falls are just a short drive away. To get to Sandy Beach and Indian Beach, the best way to go is to drive down Tremblay Road past Harris Dam & see the Magpie River
Sandy Beach is world class! Lots of parking, and a boardwalk takes you to the beach. Here's my niece, Hillary - summer of 99 (Just before we bought the Motel). The swimming is spectacular! Don't try swimming in it in early July though. It takes a while for it to warm up. Then once it warms up, it takes a while to cool down, so swimming in September is GREAT!
Michipicoton First Nations Beach is my "Little Piece of Heaven"
The Rock formations are really cool - I should get a close up next time
Government Dock Beach is between Sandy Beach and Silver Falls. Another great spot. Here's a sunset from the Rocky area. Alan Rickman and Carrie Ann Moss have a scene here in the movie "Snow Cake".
Heading
back the other way, there's Lake Superior Look Out, and Silver
Falls
The waves gouge out
the beach - (It's hard to photograph) so there are places where you could
run and jump off the shore into the water.
Located South of
Michipicoten village off of Highway 17
Scenic
High Falls

And if you are up
for a hike - there is a Hiking Trail that joins

you must visit our Visitor Center and get a picture with our FAMOUS WAWA
GOOSE!

The Old Steephill Dam, & the BADLANDS from the Magpie Reservoir
Just drive north
on Highway 17 from the Northern Lights. Turn right at Steephill
Dam Road. There you will cross Steephill Dam and enter the Badlands. The
Badlands are a treeless area filled with Blueberries! Blueberry
pickers come from miles away to pick here. Late July into September.
A few pics
of the Badlands and the Magpie River taken from the Dam Remember,
